Language Studies is an inter-disciplinary subject area that combines courses from two disciplines- Language and Linguistics. Language studies aids students to understand the summative formation of the human language in general while simultaneously helping one to master one or more foreign languages. Language Studies allows students to learn one or more foreign languages to understand how languages and communication work.

Language studies help in the interpretation of varied ancient languages in order to preserve culture and antiquity. Besides the study of languages, it also includes the study of phonetics, phonology, syntax, morphology, and grammar. Language Studies students develop good oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to analyse and think critically.
