Sustainable Development ensures the fulfilment of the needs of the present generation without having to compromise with the needs of the future generation. It promotes an eco-critical perspective towards natural resources and prevents or minimises their depletion. Sustainable Development is a discipline that promotes concern for the environment. With the depleting amount of natural resources that are largely a result of anthropogenic activities, the need to study Sustainable Development has become very crucial. It requires systematic planning of economic growth, which guarantees the least amount of pressure on the exhausting environmental resources, hence enlarging its areas of specialisation as well as employability.

Sustainable Development focuses on solving issues related to ecology, biodiversity, and conservation and tries to identify and come up with new ways to use the Earth's natural resources to their full potential. The study program looks at the different methods and actions that can be taken to protect nature against unsustainable activities.
