Gender and Sexuality Studies is a sub-discipline of social sciences that analyses and studies how gender intersects with class, race, ethnicity, disability, and age. It also examines the relationship between gender and sexuality in literary, philosophical, political, and medical discourses.

The course is interdisciplinary and draws from other disciplines like anthropology, sociology, psychology, and ethnic studies. It focuses on the way gender differences are created, diminished, and reinforced in society. Gender and Sexuality Studies courses teach students how gender and sexuality are socially constructed concepts that vary depending on life stages and social settings. They also deal with sensitive issues like sexual preference, feminism, women's rights, fighting prejudice and discrimination.

Gender and Sexuality Studies provides training to examine gender relations and the construction of gender and sexual differences from a global perspective. The course provides knowledge that covers areas like the history of identity production, body politics, religion and gender, environmental politics, and human rights. Students in this field develop skills like critical thinking, decision-making, and effective communication. They are also taught to apply whatever they have learned to real-life situations around the world.
