Genetics is a branch of biology, which in the recent decade has doubled in its advancement. It deals with the study of the DNA of living organisms, how this DNA manifests as genes, and how offspring inherit those particular genes. Genes pass from parent to offspring in both sexual and asexual reproduction. Over time natural selection and accumulation in variations take place amongst individuals on the same group level. This process is how evolution takes place. Genetics, in the 21st century, is a vital subject as it is interdisciplinary and it contributes towards many other fields like agriculture, medicine, biotechnology, and most significant of them all, forensics. With the advancement and help of the study of genetics, issues involving DNA testing for crime investigation have improved manifold. Knowledge of Genetics helps students understand human behaviour, genetic diseases, and different ways in which better organisms and crops can be produced. Genetics is a broad subject that is closely related to other Natural Sciences like Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.

Employability

Genetics as a subject contributes towards understanding and finding solutions for many problems we face in the world. Specifically talking about the medical field, genetics helps us understand what causes a disease; it also helps to recognise how a person responds to certain therapies. The study of genetics is broad and helps us in understanding many things why we all have different physical features such as hair, eyes colour, and height. It also determines why we tend to resemble our parents, which have all resulted in elevating this science to a level beyond our imagination. All these types of inventions pertaining to life science, as well as hereditary processes, are scientifically due to Genetics. It covers a broad spectrum of study and therefore, has a plethora of job openings in this field.
