Statistics is a discipline that deals with the development, study, collection, manipulation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. It is considered to be extremely interdisciplinary in nature as the use of statistics can be found and is applicable in all scientific fields of research. This process of developing and studying methods of new statistical advancement calls for great knowledge, understanding, and application of mathematical and computational tools. The study of statistics revolves around two fundamental concepts, which are uncertainty and probability. Uncertainty deals with the outcome that is yet to be determined. For example, predicting if there will be rain in the next few days. Probability deals with the attempt of trying to understand and control the outcome of the sources of variation in any situation. Statistics as a subject can be found being used in both scientific disciplines like physical and social sciences as well as in business, government, humanities, and manufacturing. Knowledge of statistics is very important because it is used in other disciplines like medicine, sociology, economics, natural sciences, and engineering.
